"We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression but it must be coupled with press responsibility."
Bull shit.
You either support the first amendment, or you don't. These publications are being done as a sign of solidarity. The world is trying to tell these people that threats of violence and intimidation will not supress our right to free speech.
The only reason the Piss Christ art was such a big deal was because the government was funding it. Regardless, I'm still glad he's allowed to create it and not be murdered.
But this is what some British Muslims think of freedom of speech:

The Middle East is in an absolute frenzy over this deal. Welcome to the 21st Century Mohammed.
If you aren't following the news, a summary can be found here.

Whats your stance on the age restriction for porn mags?
Do you consider that a case of "freedom of the press and expression coupled with press responsibility" or not?

When one doesn't have the responsibilities of an adult, they don't get the freedoms either. Sometimes it bothers me that 16 year olds aren't allowed to go to a rated R movie or buy a porn magazine without an adult.
But the fact of the matter is that our society has decided to accept some responsility for raising children, and this is how we've gone about it.
But, I think that making this an issue of press responsibility is ignoring (or at least diverting) the point of the cartoons: a large group of people will murder you to ensure your silence.
But, to answer your question, I'd prefer the government to not regulate it at all. However, I don't have a big problem with it.

It's obviously up to the specific "Press Company" as to what they chose to publish or not. When most people want to object to something that they deem as insensitive, they will simply write a letter to the editor, or stop watching/reading that publication.
Some outlets that choose to not publish these cartoons are not doing so because they care about religious sensibilities (see my Piss Christ reference). They aren't doing it because of fear.

Are one of these fake? I ran across these two pics, and they look too similar. I don't have any image tools here though.

BTW, I do think this is being twisted for political purposes. Reports are saying in Palestine it is the Fatwa supporters who are attacking embassies and such. These are the guys who just lost the election there. They want to riot and embarass Hamas and this is a much better excuse than being bitter losers.

Pakistan
Chechnya
Iran
Indonesia
India
Kabul
New Zealand
Turkey
London
Syria
Hamas doesn't need Fatah to make it look evil.
Yes, people exploit events and misrepresent things for their own ends all the time. But, I'll let the articles/pictures speak for themselves.

I'm stating that it's not a Palestinian issue.
How do you end up at the conclusion that it's misdirected rage that's intended for the Western Foreign Policy? All Western countries hardly have the same policy towards the Mid East.
Most of the protestors don't even know what's going on. They probably think our media is run by our governments. They don't even know what freedom of expression is.

What I don't get:
Why do these protesters/rioters get so worked up about a cartoon where they go burn buildings, but then don't complain about a terrible, preventable ferry accident that killed 1200 Muslims when the Egyptian government turned down offers of British aid to help with the rescue?

They are rioting against infidels, which just happens to be Denmark in this case.
