He was improperly brainwashed. He should be decommissioned and put down for treason. I don't think it's a soldiers place to decide which war is a "just" one. Imagine an Army where the officer's asked for a "show of hands" to go to the front lines. Good post

hopefully his sacrifice wont go unnoticed. it would be a shame if what he is doing just went away. hopefully others will do the same, but really, this country everyday seems like its falling apart.

His job is not to decide which wars to goto, his job is to follow the chain of command, period. He should have not signed up then and accepted paychecks without having the intention of following through with his end of the agreement. He needs to wind up in the hole with the ones who tried to claim political asylum in Canada (they said "wtf...eh?" and sent them back over the border to face the music).

i agree too all of that, but i can understand what hes saying. he orginally signed up because he believed in what he was doing and what our country was doing. and i know it dont matter what he believes in once you become a military guy, but we all know that a large amount of the public doesnt approve of bush, and now we also know that him among others im sure of our military are protesting this and it can only get worse if more people stand up to their government when they're a part of it.

I understand his position, and it is common knowledge now (no need to rehash the whole "misled the country" thing), but he is a cog in a machine. After bush is gone, the military will still exist and needs to remain as strong as it can. Civilians and Military are waiting 20 more months to be rid of the worse president ever and his cohorts. But once he is gone and there is new leadership, we can't hand them a broken military. We can't go back to the early 70's, those of us who remember it know how that can affect the country. And with the US rapidly losing power worldwide, it is one of the things that still exterts influence. The dollar is dead (toast, deceased, defunct), the economy is heading to the shitter (recession fall 07), the consumer is maxed on debt and about to get fucked by inflation (dead dollar & interest rates). One of the last institutions that has been stable is the military. Without that, we all may as well learn Chinese so we can work as call center grunts for the new empire while living in squaller. With an intact solid military, we can at least keep the peace when all that debt comes piling back on our heads (Guido will want to be paid back, and he is Chinese). So, even though his concerns are on the mark, he needs to remain part of the "machine". If 30% of the military bailed on the same grounds we would have chaos domestically and would lose all credibility globally on a military level. Thus he must burn.

The dudes job is to follow orders. If he didn't want to end up in a shitty country getting shot at he shouldn't have joined the military. Who knows maybe someone like him could make a difference over there..Or maybe he would get all his men killed.

He should have known what he was getting into before he signed the contract.
