Any fans of the older, single-player Ultimas? ... no?
http://basiliskgames.com/book1.htmlwell, I just found and started playing a game called Eschalon. I loved the older Ultimas (5 - 8) and haven't seen a recent game try to emulate them. This one does that.... just keep in mind that it's not another Ultima. It just incorporates a lot of the style of the older Ultimas but with its own storyline and differences. Some differences are the fact that it's turn based (nothing happens if you stand still), random loot in boxes/corpses, among other things.
I would definitely recommend trying this game if you miss the old times... the ONLY major gripe I have is that the walking speed is s-l-o-w. I have not found a way to increase the walking speed yet.... really sucky. Thank God there's a "transport to various parts of the map" feature.... or else I'd toss this game. But give it a try! (If you're bored with PC gaming like I am..)
