In reply to:

The overly feminist rulers of a country decide that there are too many baby boys being born. The rulers decide to enforce a new law concerning child birth on their overly prosperous subjects. Each family is permitted to have as many children as they want, provided that they only produce baby girls. Once a baby boy enters the family, the family is no longer permitted to have children. Assuming each law abiding family wants to have as many children as possible, what will happen to the ratio of boys to girls, and why?

I think the population would entitle less girls around. granted that if they stop after the first boy, and boys seem to be produced more, then the ratio of girls would become worse off.

if they try to have as many children as possible, the ratio will end up like 50% boys / 50% girls or soemwhere in that neighborhood....unless they use some obnoxious birthing technique like Panemons parents, you would get a math distribution that looks somehting like this...

.50 = B
.50 = G
.25 = GB
.165 = GGB
.085 = GGGB

i.e 500 couples

250 boys
250 girls
-------
125 boys
125 girls
-------
62 boys
62 girls
-------
etc etc etc etc....gimme my 900k brown horse and some potstickers!!!!

The ratio of boys to girls would go up, assuming that there is a 50% chance to have a boy or a girl. If a family had a boy first then there would be no girl in that family. If they had a girl first then statistically they would have a boy as their second child. So 50% of the familys would have one boy, and 50% would have one girl and one boy.
