Just to see what kind of quality music you can get from using the ModPlug Player I've uploaded a sample of one of my recently finished tunes. It's not totally finished yet, it needs a bit of fixing, and some slight re-mixing.
I think ModPlug is the best sound design software you can get, and it's free, and doesn't eat a whole shitload of your computers resources up either.
This mix I composed myself is actually 2 mixes, the second mix starting at around 1:45, personally I like the second stage of the mix, considering my options were limited with the repititous chords I was using with the first.
Unfortunately the download may take a bit longer, since I am barrowing my friends FTP, in which he happens to live in Denmark.
(And No, it's not a fucking virus.)
Download My Phat MP3 Here.(still needs some work.)
This link may be down in a few days or less, my friend may remove the file from the FTP.
I plan on doing a lot more mixing, and re-mixes of tunes with this software. The best way to learn how to use it, is to download sample mods, and play back the effects, and write down what they do, and when you come across a sound you wan,t you can add individual effects per note, as well as the sample itself.
You can modify through various filters, like sound evelopes, or panning, and it's real easy when you get used to it. Eventually you'll move on to macros, and midi macros and such. It's pretty cool fucking shit.

Download the Tracker there.
Go to http://www.modarchive.com to steal samples, and get ideas for your own tunes.
If any of you guys are interested in the source file for this MP3, just E-Mail me, and I will send it to you. It pretty much uses all the effects that are used in electronic music, Offsets, Tone Portamento, Panning, Vibrato, Waveform, Tremolo.
This particular format was done as a Fast Tracker Module, or .XM.

Sounds like a fuckin remix of that one 80's song from "Rad" added with some real gay ass Jap techno. Seriously, remixing loops and samples is as l33t as buying your first casio keyboard and pressing the "demo" button while standing with your fingers on the keyboard pretending to play.

I've only been a member of the ModPlug community since 1996, ever since I heard my first Scream Tracker Module on a friends gaming page, I got into the Mods.
All techno is looped throughout. In fact nearly all computer generated music is looped, it's the best and only way to organize a music file. Just about every MOD I've ever seen in looped, except for Classic, and piano based tunes.
At least, for my XM composition is done by raw code, so it makes it very difficult to keep things in sync, so looping the mix is a must.
You obviously don't know what techno is, if you refrence it as being an 80's "rad" Jap techno. It's actually German style EuroTrance, which is the kind of techno that I like.
I'd like to see you make a successfull techno without remixing loops and samples genius. Techno is naked without remixing.
I guess Paul Oakenfold is one of those guys who pushes demo, and pretends to play.

Okenfold, Tiesto, Bedrock, Dieselboy are great. <img src="/~stretch/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I can also do a wicked cool bunnyhop on a razor scooter.
I can also do the robot dance.

'cause it takes close to no skill to produce something you can brag about on a gaming forum. At least paul oakenfsldk makes up his own loops. What you are saying and suggesting is you use other people's sample's and "code" it to be your own. Wtf people who use "code" as a musical reference deserve to be shot. Oh, and the reference was to "rad" the movie, not the old slang term.

I wrote, and mixed my own code, btw. I barrowed music samples, so I wouldn't have to go through all the effort of sampling the music files myself.
Plus a lot of these samples I use come from professional recording studios. The wavs are pure sound, with very little feedback.
There is more to it involved then you think, you approach a situation with ignorance, and then talk shit when you know you're wrong.
What is wrong with using bare metal coding for compos? It gives you more control over the sounds you create, it's a hell of a lot better then those expensive homosexual super GUI mixing programs, these wannabe djs use. Fuck, none of the computers I run can handle all of the channels I use in my mixes on those, compared to a simple Tracker that may cause some performance issues with a P133.
I'd like to see you write something in ModPlug, it's not as easy as you think. In fact it's probably one of the most advanced methods of sound design out there, but it's easy for me, since I've been knowledgeable about how it works for many years now.
