I used over 26 channels totaling 40 channels. When you use that many channels it will distort the sounds, requiring advanced volume tuning.
It was a learning experience, to see how many sounds I could throw into as many channels as possible, and still keep it good.
I've successfully used 60-80 channels at once on my other mods, and managed to make it sound reasonably good..
I also got fucked over on the panning since the parts in the first mix were unrepairable. It still needs some fixing in the pattern. I kinda threw it together at the last min.
Actually I got a better mix, which I spent off and on 7 months on, but it's over 8 min. long, and it's two mixes. It would take forever to upload on my dialup to the FTP I'm using that is in Denmark.

Pay attention to the various sounds and effects I used, especially on the first mix. Over 26 channels were used on this Mod.
I never said it was perfect, and still needs some channel tuning.

It was like two intro's put togehter to make a song. They don't really even fit together.
The first minute and a half was like a big build up for something that never came.
The second part is better, but again, it kept building up and then: nothing.
I don't think its terrible, but definitely break them up into two separate mixes. I'd even suggest cutting 30 seconds off the first mix, then have it actually pick up a bit with some sort of melody, other than the 3 chords repeating.
As for the second part, its got more potential, but again, dont build up to anti-climaxes. If you just put something after the buildup's it may be worth listening to more than once.
Hope you can take it as constructive criticism. If you think its off base, well, just attribute it to me not really being into that kinda music anyways. I'm more of a metal head.
If you want to hear one of Me and My Bro's songs let me know and I'll throw it up (with their permission).

Yeah, this is a new mix I made. I have a more complete mix, that I spent at least a year working on. It's about 15 MB, but I don't have the paitence to upload it on dialup to an FTP I use in Denmark. :P
I came up with a good offset routine for the 3 chords, but with the mixing experience I have, there was really nothing to do once I got it there. I ran out of ideas for the first mix, and decided to try something new. I wear myself out by mixing these and they get boring fast, since I have to work with every individual note by code, I get frusterated and I stop.
I am also using an old P166 with a newer AWE64 Soundblaster card, which is still a very high quality board. The card is older, and it won't go into my HP, so I'm pretty much stuck on this old PC, but the ModPlug Software works very well on it, and won't use more than 75% CPU power, but I still have to keep my channels minimized.
I decided to leave it like it is though, I spent the last few days working on it, and making some fixes, including a modified tempo. I figure it would be left alone as a consistant dance theme, since in most clubs I go to, the beat never stops for a melodic theme, that's kinda the approach I took, but I thought it would be boring if I just maintained the beat throughout the mix.
This is more of an Eurostyle theme that I prefer to go with, but the tune still needs some more mixing to it. I'm trying to keep it original, and use a sound theme that a lot of others don't use, which is really hard to do, since just about everyone has managed to use every known possible electronic sound theme in their mixes.
I'll have to try and upload the mix I put together with my friends Girlfriend.
You can post your tunes if you want to, but I suggest playing around with ModTracker, it's an awesome program, and it's been around even before I started doing stuff on the net.
Some actual mods can be smaller than MP3's since they generally work like MIDI does, and it's quite possible to have a finished sound file of 3-5 mins ranging from 60kb-1 MB. Mine is about 7 MB because of all of the samples and instruments I used, some of them were junk, and I didn't use them.
