I think that one is called NHL Rivals? I'm not sure though, never got a chance to try it either (sold out too quick, hehe).
Sega makes ESPN NHL 2004, which is the most fun hockey game available i think. and it plays pretty crisp (slightly better controls than EA's i'd say...).
