Gonna agree with Trance on this one.
Richie Hawtin, Plastikmen are up there. Check out Matthew Dear, Stryke, and John Aquaviva. All Tech-masters and they know how to work the dancefloor as well and just working with that heavy-energy. If you're referring to "Techno" as a general term for electronic music, then maybe you're looking for something a little more melodic and lush, lookup 'Digital Witchcraft' web page
Tune-in to Proton Radio for constant new music in the EDM & IDM scene.
You can check some of my own stuff over at:
web page
(Roger dP btw) Mainly downtempo, and IDM type stuff.
Hope this helped a bit, doesn't seem like you got a straight answer from the majority. ;-)

Tenshi ='s winner
You might as well call this post biased, but, be that as it may, Tenshi cornered you on every topic. I guess a fool never faces the mirror and sees what is (for others) so blatantly obvious. Pan, you've been outclassed and put to shame. I used to think you were purely stubborn and just came here simply for the fact that if you left, it would spell obvious defeat. However, I now believe you are utterly oblivious to the cold hard truth.

Techno rules, anyone who bashes it has obviously just heard some shitty techno somewhere and they're too stupid to realize they shouldn't base their ideas about an entire category of music off a handfull of songs so they say "techno sucks because the couple songs I heard sucked. I like to take one example of something and apply it to the entire category because I'm a moron"
Reality check - Most of your favorite action sequences in movies have some form of techno being played in the background. Try watching that scene with the music taken out, it becomes gay.
If anyone here has an interest in techno and a decent P2P file sharer (K-lite is nice), tell me and I can tell you some great songs to get.
For the rest of you, keep your thumbs firmly shoved up those asses and walk away from this thread.

Richie Hawtin = Plastikman.
Everyone has their own style, so it's hard to pinpoint what exactly it is you're looking for. Some names you might wanna check out are Seb Fontaine, Dave Ralph, Deep Dish, Darren Emerson, Lee Burridge, and anything produced/engineered (not mixed) by Sasha. Also the Crystal Method and Koma + Bones are some of the best producers around in my opinion, so if you're more into production/sound engineering than mixing skills, you should check them out as well. These are just some of my personal favorites, mostly comprised of breakbeat DJs/Producers.
