I took a macro Economics class recently and i am not the most talkative person in class. But the one question i did ask is this. "Does the national deficit affect the economy" He gave me this long drawn out explanation, and later i told him to explain it to me in english. He said basically the deficit is like a credit card, it really doesnt affect the economy, every other country in this world owes money. It gets paid out over time whether its with money, food, aid or trade. It will get paid out but it directly does not influence the nations economy. That is a big myth and greatly used in politics as platform for democrats because they are big on the economy and republicans are big on the deficit. My professor came off very unpartisan and im really unsure what wing he is for (Left or Right). Just thought I would throw that out there because I really always was unsure of this. For a long time I thought the economy was affected by the National deficit.
