I agree with you on the racial profiling issue.
We haven't had many terrorists who are born-bred Belgian, English, German, Austrian, Hungarian, Danish or Norwegian (etc...) lately. The terrorists seem to have some common aspects (which we can profile). Hate to say it, hate to offend anyone, but it's true. When you say "muslim extremist", you don't think baptist priests wearing suicide bomber belts, or catholic hijackers.
I know the whole civil liberties issue, and understand it's position, but for preparedness at least hand a list of profiled people to the onboard air marshall(s) & pilot(s) without showing anyone else. That way nobody's civil liberties are violated etc...etc.... and he'll know what seats have a higher % risk factor.
A concern would be the expansion of terrorist groups to non-muslims (which is underway). They are finding that they can recruit disgruntled and disenfranchised individuals who avoid the profiles. I read about that last week, and it adds a whole new dynamic.
