Your religious and/or political views do not dictate the way the world works, and I thank (insert whatever imaginary diety you worship here) everyday that that's the case. I do not believe that a 17 year old kid who gets a girl pregnant, even after taking precautions, should spend the rest of his life paying for it. It's not a good life for him, it's not a good life for the woman, and it certainly is not a good life for the child.
There will be no "ending a life" in this case. There will be a termination of a biological process which could LEAD to life, and that is all. Don't waste your time arguing this point with me. I don't believe in god, and I don't care about your religious aversion to abortion. It has been my experience that people on both sides of the abortion issue have their minds made up, and I'm convinced that we will not start a new trend here.
You "took responsibility" for yours eh? How is that going? Still with the woman? Let me guess, you stood up and took responsibility for your child, and you are now still with this woman, you have a great relationship, you see your kid all the time and he/she loves you and never asks why you and mommy don't live together, you don't get raked over the coals for child support, and there are no problems at all, right? Great situation for everyone involved, I'm sure.
Even if all that were true, that story would be the exception rather than the rule. The cold, hard truth that people like you can't handle (or don't care about) is that a large majority of these cases do not work out like that, and are very poor situations for all involved. That's ok though, as long as he "took responsibility", jesus will love him and it's all good right? An abortion in this case would prevent that, and give all involved another chance to do things right. But whose "right" are we talking about? Depends on Fetus.
