Yes. I believe that if my life will be saved if someone else has to die, then killing is ok. By your logic, you must be against capital punishment, etc. etc, ad nauseum.
I believe that my life, and the lives of my friends, are more important than a complete stranger's who may, or may not have a bomb aimed at our heads. Yes, I believe that if my girlfriend will sleep better knowing that a serial killer is executed, then yes, killing is ok.

EDIT: Ok. Say I have this killer knife. Now say someone who my or may not want to harm me knows about this knife and may or may not want to stab me. If the knife becomes useless to me, then I will destroy the knife when it becomes in danger of falling into the hands of said bad guy. That's common sense. That's why ancient armies would burn their own land when retreating from invaders. Keep them from being able to live off your supplies. If you are moronic enough to believe that there are not any groups who are intent on doing America any sort of harm, then...I don't know.
