I think Arioch's post is talking about the unchecked Rx drug costs. Here it's rediculous, canadian Rx is cheaper, why? Because there are set ceilings (for older drugs).
But in the long run $1,100 a year is nothing espcially if you are in the 35%+ bracket, so I don't see the reason for belly aching. I give 10% of my earnings to Alzheimer Research as a charitable contribution, IF this were passed I'd have the tax increase affect the amount I donate (either way my money is helping)
