I read some stuff a while back that suggested the Iranians were working with the DPRK cooperatively on nuclear weapons. Herein lies the problem. It's suggested that the DPRK already has nuclear weapons, and if so it wouldn't be so far off to say that if the DPRK has nukes, then there is a high probability that Iran has them as well.
With that in mind, if Israel were to bomb the reactor (which they will if we don't) then you've got a nuclear exchange over there. Israel bombs reactors, Iran counters with nuclear weapons if they have them, Israel completely saturates Iran, other arab states go to war with Israel, Israel saturates them as well.
In short, any attack on the Iranian reactors has a fairly high probability of initiating a 'less than conventional' conflict.
As for whether there is anything crazy going on at the reactors.... well hell, even el Baradei has said that something doesn't add up.
