Bush did not ban stem cell research. That is a flat out lie and you know it.
Bush's budget has something like $250 million allocated for adult stem cell research and $30 million for embryonic.
Federal funding for only the embryonic path is limited to the already existing cell lines so that more embryos are not destroyed. It is an ethical problem for too many people so the President found a compromise.
There is no limit on federal funding for adult stem cell research, which of course is the more promising of the two. There is no limit on private funding of embryonic stem cell research either.
So don't try to lie and say Bush won't allow stem cell research. That's bullshit and you know it. Bush was the first President to ever give any federal money to the field at all. And don't try to spread the other lie that it's a new concept either. It's not. We've known about stem cells and manipulating stem cells for decades. For example, bone marrow transplants are just stem cell transplants.
