Good post, there would seem to be a need for a 3rd party which sat more in the middle.
The downside is that the 2 party system is one of the unique strengths of the nation. Once you get a 3rd, 4th, 5th party representing other views and niche wants, then you start seeing coalition building in order to make a senate or congress.
Those coalitions tend to stagnate progress, as the leader can't step any way as a coalition member may get upset, leave and bring down the govt. A normal occurance elsewhere.
I'ld like to see other views have voices as well, but it may stymie the ability of the country to make drastic changes easily and be rapidly adaptive.
