and that is- any fucking 2 year old can do it. But you got these pieces that these art fags will fawn all over and they talk about how the artist did this and that and blah blah blah..fuck you, I could throw up on a canvas and have the same effect. I got into an argument once with this art dealer I had a one night stand with- like talking to a wall, they're so delusional. Any other kind of art, I can appreciate- nice painting of a castle, some LoTR poster, a sculpture whatever- but abstract art any chimp can do and here ya go:

i tried that when i was 14. bought two canvases and painted crap on them. i put them on ebay with no reserve... they sold for 32 bucks i think.

The large majority of true abstract artists can pretty much render anything they want in a photorealistic manner. The reason these people choose abstraction as their stylistic choice is because they feel that the emotions (or whatever) they are trying to express cannot be fully represented when they are limited to 'real' imagery (an oversimplification, to be sure, but it generally applies).
The pretenders simply can't render art that well in a conventional manner so they attempt to use the abstract style as a crutch. Any art historian or connosieur worth a lick can spot these fakers from a mile away.
That being said, never underestimate the ability of rich people to waste extravagant amounts of money on shit they know dick about.
