I was riding home at night, and just as turned the corner going ~ 10 mph to gget into my apartment complex, my front tire hit a pine cone (that i didnt see) and I went down instantly. I actually flew off my fucking bike and surprisingly, landed on my feet.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I took the corner pretty fast and there was a shit load of palm tree seedsall over the road and i almost ate shit. Since i was going so fast i counlnt hit the breaks on the turn so i striaghted the bike and headed straigh for a mail box. I stoppped the bike before hitting. Some construction guys outside sure thought it was funny. But fuck them at least i didnt get any scraps on my fairings.

broke my brake lever, and scraped my turn signal and mirror.

If you want to avoid that in the future I'd recommend you take the MSF Advanced Riding course - you do'll courses similiar to that video.

Most people just dont understand the slower you are traveling the more unstable the bike becomes.
There's nothing worse then laying it down at low speed.

Yeah, im familiar with the MSF, and I actually took the basic course so I could waive my DMV test portion.
I was actually looking into taking the advanced course, but I really doubt that any skill could have helped me in my situation. I didnt even SEE the pinecone on the ground until after I high-sided and landed on my feet. i actually had to walk over and peer at the ground very closely to see it. I usually never ride my bike at night because of decreased visibility - but fuck man, the one time that i do... ugh.
i hate pinecones now.
