Fact: Hank did not get booted from LoD. He resigned.

He has been to school, in consumer electronics, and worked for a communications repair company, he was also in the military as a communcations specialist, and also worked for Texas Instruments, he still has a remaining hobby with 2-way radios, ham radios, cb radios, he makes repairs and modifications to them.

So was it one of those Nixon style resignations? i.e. I'm going to resign before they spank me out of LoD?
