Alloy 1.002 Tagged Alloy 1.003 Tagged Here are a couple of tracks I made that I think are worth listening to. These are rap beats designed to be sold to rappers for either non-exclusive rights or exclusive (hence the voice tag for copy protection). Everything you hear I programmed and sequenced in Reason 3.0, and I Mixed and Mastered them in Cubase SX3. Please give me honest feedback and keep in mind that I dont even listen to rap and am completely self taught in Audio Production and Engineering. I'm most interested in knowing how they sound on your stereo systems. Clean highs and lows? Does the Surround Panning Sound good?

I have shit speakers so here is my 2 cents: (edit:I'm getting barely any bass out of my speaks so a lot of what I said is inconclusive until I hear on something better) Alloy 1-Little slow. Speed it up. Where's the bass? Are my speakers that shitty? Alloy 2-Tight beat. This is what id call a break-beat. Its different than a hip hop beat. Hip Hot beats tend to have the pattern of beat/Chorus/beat/chorus. I don't flow, but it wouldn't be easy to rhyme over this beat and sound tight at the same time. Im to lazy to make my own stuff. I have such a wide variety to choose from that there is never a lack of new material for me to get and the fact all music is digital my wax is collecting dust in my closet. Not bad at all for the amount of time you have been learning/adapting. The fact your a rock drummer trying to make dark hip hop beats with little experience or knowledge of the difference between rap and hip hop your on the right path and have a lot of potential. It will only get better if you expand your mind and listen to some Hip hop that is already out there, not the radio shit, Underground. The style of your beats if I had to compare to something it would be Kool Keith/ Dr Octagon same guy. He makes electronica hip hop futuristic beats work and changes his name every CD he puts out. Download the song "Blue Flowers" by Dr, Octagon.

Just out of curiosity, if yer a metal head why do you put together rap beats? Not digging on ya, cause I like everything you have made. Just wondering.
To all you virgins, thanks for nothing.

Thanx man The first is at 172 bpm. It is/was part of a song or a specific person, and he already has vocals done over a diff beat that he cant use. The bass is just a bass gutar, that one is only half done but I think its cool anyway. Goddamn I need real monitors bad. Its really hard to Mix and Master without them. My Bose system helps to surround pan, but only true monitors can really give the straight dope. I just listened to the second on it for the first time (cant have bass in an apyt at night ) and the treble is kinda jacked up on the hat, and I might just switch the bass up for just a midlength 808 kick, not sure. I dont have a big car stereo so I might start taking these to stereo shops to see how the bass really sounds when its bumped.

This crap goes against everything that is metal... Its just sampled beats over and over again. Hell, the first one doesn't ever change at all. Now I need about 2 hours of Judas Priest to clear my head. Sorry bro, its not my cup of tea... Even so, whatever you do, get rid of those dumb computer voice overs. -Bal.
