That's a great article and, if you choose to wear a helmet, there's some great information in that article about the different helmet standards and the raging controversy in the industry regarding which is actually best.
Please see my response to Murd about the guy with the helmet that ended up paralyzed. For every story regarding how a helmet hurt, there are others with the opposite result. My underlying point, which I don't believe you have yet countered, is that statistically there are very little differences in likely outcomes in the case of a crash. I do not believe that government should legislate when there is not significant reason to believe that the legislation is in the public good.
I wear a helmet when the state I am in requires me to. Once I cross state lines, the lid comes off. If a friend said "wear this or I'm out" my response would be "cya around".
