There is a lot of info on the subject.

Landfills are the largest anthropogenic source of methane in the U.S. There are a variety ways that utilities can reduce overall emissions of methane from landfills. Landfill methane can be collected by developing gas recovery systems, and it can then be used to generate electricity, as a fuel for nearby industrial purposes, or enriched and sold to gas pipelines.
http://www.methanetomarkets.org/landfills/landfills-bkgrd.htmMethane is a primary constituent of landfill gas (LFG) and a potent greenhouse gas when released to the atmosphere. Reducing emissions by capturing LFG and using it as an energy source can yield substantial energy, economic, and environmental benefits. The implementation of landfill gas energy (LFGE) projects reduces greenhouse gases and air pollutants, leading to improved local air quality and reduced possible health risks. LFG projects also improve energy independence, produce cost savings, create jobs, and help local economies. Internationally, significant opportunities exist for expanding landfill gas energy.
http://www.truehealth.org/methane-landfill.html Methane from landfills at the state's 770-acre central facility in Sandtown and a 570-acre landfill in Georgetown is being processed to generate an expected 7.4 megawatts of electricity in total - enough for the yearly needs of 7,400 homes. The Georgetown site is already producing, while the Sandtown facility is expected to be online in the next few weeks.
The methane produced by Canadian landfill sites contains enough energy to heat more than 600 000 homes a year.
I believe in conservation, its just not my religion.
Its important that we do not take out the knee caps of our businesses with "green building" like our state has recently been talking about, and are near mandating. (LEED Building)
The problem with the green wackjobs is its hard for people to listen to them when they actually have a good idea because they are in fact wackjobs.
If we used tax payers money properly to reuse our trash as energy/electricity all while eliminating green house gases, we are killing two birds with one stone. The problem is that
recycling like
global warming has become the religion of the left. And like any religion changing ones' mind about their religion is nearly impossible. You wont change mine.
Recycling is a farce and a waste of our time.
I will pm you my address, i take checks.
