Environmental impact, for example building a water levy, destroying a coral reef, decimating a rain forest, reverting a river. Get it yet?
Yet you fail to give one source of proof that we have created the increase in temperature.
The reason I believe in conservation is simple, people need healthy food and water to drink. People need a regular food supply.
I do not fear global warming sir.
Again, who are you leaning towards in the 2008 election? Do not feel obligated to answer any of the questions I ask.

BTW, you saying human can't control the earth's environment is like saying in 1962 we can't get to the moon.

Explain how Earth came out of the Ice Ages that preceeded homosapiens if there is no such thing as warming cycles caused by the Sun. Waiting...

The earth's warming cycle is real and is happening. That is what took us into and out of 7 ice ages.

He is kind of the "dark horse" right now. He seems to have the left and right in a tizzy, and thats good. The left hates him, the right hates him, hmm..... that must mean he is in the middle!
If he won, the machinations of washington would be nothing but wrenches in the gears of what he wants to do (left wrenches & right wrenches). That is the sad part, he may be saying what the public wants to say.....but the corporations, lobbyists and special interest groups will ensure that it is not heard or even considered, let alone implemented.
I see it as a dark blot on the mechanics of politics.

On the climatic subject.
We are in a cyclical warming period, however human contributions are exaggerating it. A natural cycle exists (last high point was 8200 yrs ago). The correlation between atmospheric carbon & median temp is established and runs back quite a ways (well before we learned to use spoons or walk on 2 feet). 8200 yrs ago, things were quite tropical (in the high temperate zones). The current low to temperate zones were either deserts or tropical. Greenland had trees and a temperate climate.
We have burped out enough to provide 300% of the carbon in the atmosphere then existed at that time. By extrapolating the temps and carbon contents, it appears the this planet will rise in temp in a very bad manner. We can expect a 24C increase at the poles, and extending towards the equator (unsure if it is a linear progression of temp change). We are also in a feedback loop now, it will not stop. You will not hear this publicly (due to political watering down & not wanting to sound alarmist), but we are past the tipping point.
The left has focused on doomsday scenarios, the right has ignored it and now blames natural cycles. Both have contributed equally to the invalidation of the real issue.
3 countries will benefit from this event (Russia, New Zealand, Canada) and all others will suffer tremendously.
I don't care about left & right arguments. I encourage all those that do so to continue, it moves the subject forward. I have run the numbers and conferred with others who have done the same. Everything is watered down for john q public, even this post.

We're 35 yrs ahead of all simulations right now.
ie: what the simulations predicted for 2040 occured this year and are occuring. At this rate (if it is linear) we should see the yr 2100 estimates occuring in 2012. I wouldn't venture a guess on the outcome, but we'll see desertification of the entire south east US. We'll see an entire lack of necessary water for CO, AZ, NV, south 1/2 of CA. We'll also see a 200 to 600 mile lateral band of agriculturally viable terrain open up in northern Canada.
We'll see the desertification & tremendous strain due to nature & humans not being quick enough to adapt. If it took 100 to 200 yrs, it would not result in as much damage as new indigenous species infiltrate and adapt.

Good post. I agree, it makes no sense to be irresponsible by polluting and not thinking about the consequences of our actions. This goes beyond politics, and hopefully we all agree.
