I hate Metallica
however, I think pirating anything is fucking lame. Artists, game developers, movie creators etc are putting time and money into creating a product and yet people feel it's ok to rip them off because the product isn't tangible.
If you enjoy their music, buy the album and support them. Although I thought Lars was a prick at the time of the Napster scandal, I still commend him for standing up to all the little cocks stealing his music. Anyone stupid enough to like Metallica should spend the 15$ and buy their CD and stop crying about it.
Bands who think it's, "just about the music," are still signed to major records(and as such are hypocrites, and pricks)... and all the shitty bands who claim to live by DIY ethics just suck too much to make it big.
oh and rockband is the gayest thing ever. Go buy a guitar, get the music from Metallica songs and play the real music.

I am not looking for the '80s Metallica. I know they have to evolve, but this Metallica has no roots in the Metallica of the '80s. It may be somewhat fast at times, but it is not heavy. Pantera set a new standard for heavy, which few bands have since been able to match, least of all this new Metallica.
Slayer's latest is great album. No it is not Reign in Blood, but it is still great in its own right. Too bad Metallica couldnt have done something similar.
And the only new band that I can really listen to is Slipnot. Even though they are more than a little strange as people, their music is pretty damn good.

well i know we all have our opinions which is fine, but i have 2 friends who actually like slayer more than metallica, but disagree with ya. my roommate's fav band of all time is megadeth, and we get into it all the time haha. but he really likes this album. i would say its better than the latest slayer album Cult, but both are great albums so....dont care!

it's called getting with the times. The bands that are succeeding are the ones who use the success of an album to tour and sell out shows for 80 bucks a seat.
No more sitting in a studio loaded off their ass to make all their money. Now is when they actually have to work for it.
The bands I like have NO trouble selling out shows. I went and saw The Cure a few months ago and their entire US tour was sold out.
You can bet they are making a shitload of money.
The internet used to cost users by the minute 15 years or so ago. Just because that used to be the case dosn't mean it will always be true.
Look at NIN and other bands. They sell their music online for half of what a cd costs and even give it away yet they still make money.
Times change. Adapt or die.

Honestly, I have only heard 3 tracks, so maybe it just needs to grow on me. But ever since I first heard Hit the Lights, no Metallica album has had to grow on me (up to and including Justice), I was instantly sold.

that's just a spin.. you should still pay for the music initially...
It's true, many bands are adapting... Radiohead released their last album digitally and let people choose their own price for the album... allegedly they made more off that album than any other. You're diverting from the REAL issue though.... people are still stealing the music. Live shows have ALWAYS been a major source of income for bands. NIN/Radiohead were already rich.
I don;t think there are many live shows worth paying 80$ for.... Gwar is worth seeing live, but they were only 20$ when they came here.

Of course The Cure is gonna have a sell out tour. The problem arises when great bands don't have the publicity to have constant sold out tours and rely on some sort of income through album sales. Though bands don't make much on the sale of an album, it adds up.
