Going to be attempting my very first 10 second run at the track today. Car has never felt more powerful. I went out and did a couple tune runs last night since it was in the 50's, pretty close to where it will be tonight at the track.
Pull #1 at 28psi showed 509hp 429tq
Pull #2 at 31psi showed 551hp 479tq
Pull #3 at 33psi showed 576hp 499tq
I have a little area of a rich spike which affects all the power later on in the power band but I think I figured out the problem which means, my numbers are a little low for what it should be. That will be taken care of as well as an extra 2psi of boost added to the car and some timing added as well, I should see over the 600hp mark tonight and hopefully a 10 second run, quite possibly I could go from the 12's to the 9's if everything works well and nothing breaks. It is after all, my very first engine I built myself and the weak point right now is my transmission, the 1st gear is only good up to 400hp so I am on borrowed time, luckily in a couple weeks my spare transmission gets sent off for a $4,000 build.
I plan on PK'ing some muscle cars at the track and hopefully, if he shows, I will get a chance to PK this.
Due to the presence of the automatic gear box, front mid-engined arrangement and its driving characteristics lead some commentators to classify the SLR McLaren as a GT whose rivals can be considered to be e.g. the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and Ferrari 599 GTB
5.4 L supercharged V8
approx. US$495,000
Car and Driver achieved top gear acceleration 30-50 mph and 50-70 mph times of 1.7 and 2.4 seconds
I managed a 50-70mph time of 1.62 last night and a 70-90 of 1.55
