Just get an external drive, and vista has sync center that you can use to sync folders. That should be enough for anyone. Unless you live in an area prone to flooding or fires.
Or as someone mentioned setup a Raid using two drives.
The external drive method comes with the added bonus of your data being portable if you want to take it with you somewhere.
