I just got this game. Does anyone else play it? I'm debating on whether or not to learn in the campaigns or just jump in online . .

usually with rts campaigns restrict you from straight building everything right away. you have to progressively "unlock" capabilities of building advanced buildings/units until a certain part of the campaign is reached. what i usually do is hit 'skirmish' (usually what the single player vs. computer is called) and see what you can do..then hit multi. rts isn't as forgiving in multi as fps, i'd be pretty impressed to see someone do well against someone who has been playing for some time when they just start with no idea how things work or what requires what. but once you see everything through a couple times then do multi, you at least have a basis to start with. i've never played ra3, but this is pretty much how every rts i've ever played went down...could be different.

I was a tester on the game. Add me "Lexicon" when you are online. It doesn't allow you to add players who are not online so it may be easier to find me in vent. I played a bit today though and I still have fun with it, although I no longer dominate like I did the first couple weeks.

Ya talk to lex about it. but I almost always in any RTS is start in skirmish on easy, place and build all buildings and see wtf they do, then I restart on hard and learn how the AI works, then go online after that.

I only do campaign if I REALLY am into the plot (c&c series for me) or if im hella bored one night.

I would say play play campaign if you are into the story. Actually, play it co-op because it is a lot more fun. Campaign AI cheats and will not prepare you for multiplayer.

Skirmish is good to learn the build orders you want to use and what everything does. Although, AI cheats in Skirmish as well. For example, attacking resources in a multiplayer game is one of the most effective strategies. If you attack resources against an AI, you will not have much success.

I would suggest just playing Unranked matches against players. You can always hit me up and I'll show you some things. Here are a few tips:

- Don't try to build up forces and zerg. It is more effective to constantly harass your opponent in RA3.

- Destroying or slowing down their resources is a very effective strategy, especially early game.

I would also start with Soviets because they are the most straight forward.

Starting to get the hang of the different units. This is just like RA2. Looks the same aside from shadows and some of the graphics. It really seems like it's the same game, just with more futuristic units. They all have special abilities, and good ones. Seems very balanced.

It will take a bit to get up to speed with the online players though, skirmishes are only good for learning units, since like LeX said, the computer cheats with money so its a different game alltogether than online.

the jap army is slow to start but end game they have the most power, if it lasts long. Russia quick starter and you can destroy enemies ore truck multiple ways. USA is best for infantry rush

I don't totally agree.

Japan has great tier 3 naval but their other tier 3 units are not that great.

Soviets are quick starters but they also have the overall strongest tier 3 units.

Japan is amazing at infantry rush, maybe the best. You build two barracks and move the cores into their base. Use one core to start building and the other to run over anything that tries to attack your barracks, until it is built. Allies are very good though also, but they can't rush at fast as Japan. They are however great mid-game to use their infantry. You hardly need to tier up with Allies.

The most effective Sov rush for me seems to be this -

Power
Ore
Central pillbox
Warfactory
3x drones+3x sickle

set one of the the drones on stun in case they have a vehicle out.

This usually wipes them out unless they have spent all that time getting ready for a vehicle rush.
