Wanted to know if making a profit on celebrity voice impersonations (a friend of mine would do the impersonations) is against copyright of some sort? For example: Arnold impersonation of him saying "I'll be back".
I'm assuming the original sound file from that movie would be copyright by the studios, but are impersonations off limits as well?

Like most things under copyrights (including the scripts in which these lines come from, and the actors under their companies), as long as you reference who the impersonation is of, you are good. I'm only assuming this, just because of stand-up comedians that do the same thing. Before they do the impersonation, they reference where its coming from.
I'm not sure on the actual legality though. I'm sure if the film companies wanted to be anal about it, they could sue them for using such in performances, but since it makes them more money in the long run.....

I'm a successful patent lawyer and I can tell you its not illegal to use a copyright to make fun of someone. If you're doing a sketch or simply being John Stewart and showing Fox News footage without consent its not illegal because the law says its alright as long as its intended to poke fun of.

Unless you've been on the BAR since 1977, you need a Juris Doctor degree to ever take the BAR exam; in other words, at least 4 years.

You're safe as long as it's editorial, and you don't accuse anyone of anything illegal.
  I just finished a business law class . . .

And I've been a supreme court justice since 1964.
