Nothing cheap. Maybe something with a 9600GT in it, or even a mobile 8800? Can't think of much that is cheap that has that.

Current specs:
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 @ 2,10GHz
RAM: 3GB
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit

Hypothetically speaking, maybe you could expect something like 50ish FPS with load, 70-100 FPS with little load on a similar setup.

Bought this comp like a lil under a year ago. You should be able to get a laptop with something similar to a 8800M GTS now for a reasonable price. The high end mobile cards have far surpassed this one and the price should have dropped accordingly.. I'm sure you can run it on any 8xxx mobile series Nvidia, maybe even 7xxx, just don't expect sick performance. Use it as a reference in any case.

I tend to agree with Evile though, laptops with gaming GPUs in are rarely cheap cheap.

I'm going to apologize in advance and plug gateway again.. the cheapest laptop with a decent card in it I can find.
Specs here.

Gateway? P-7805u FX Edition
$1299
Available at Best Buy

Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache)

Genuine Microsoft? Windows Vista? Home Premium (64-bit) with SP1

*not listed, but the Rez on the monitor should be 720P 1440x900 ( I think)

FX Premium Design with brushed metal keyboard surround and high-impact composite finish

4096MB 1066MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory (2-2048MB modules)

320GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive

Chassis with NVIDIA? GeForce? 9800M GTS Graphics with 1GB of GDDR3 Discrete Video Memory and Intel? PM45 Chipset

Only thing that sucks is that you can't talk down Best Buy like you can a Sales Rep from Gateway. The P editions are made by Clevo who builds many of the premium laptops sold retail for Sager and many others.. good company.
Gateway isn't.

I tried to find the same thing you're looking for, basically no-frills + a decent card, but as far as I've seen as soon as you get into anything about a Nvidia 7600/8600/9600, you're looking at 1500 bucks minimum. At least the Gateway comes with all the frills + sub 1500.

If you can find it sub 1500, dual 9600's in SLi (laptop) are better than the 8800 GTS-M.

Hope that helps, and I believe one of the Lords (sorry newb here) is a HP sales rep, and especially during these times they should be able to cut you quite a deal.

I can vouch for gateway's FX series. I own a P-7811fx and I got it refurbished on tigerdirect for $691 bucks It has a p8400 core2 in it and a 9800 gts 512 card. It has no problem running darkfall and didn't break the bank.

Oh and as far as "Cheap" options,
HP has a few Laptops with the 9600GT-M 512mb, if there's a sales rep on forums, I'd hit him up..
They run around 1000 (pretty close to the gateway), but you could probably get it down to 750-800

I'd think DF would be "playable" with a 2.2 Memron, 3 gigs generic ram, 9600GT

Oh man, they had those on list for like 1 month before they pulled them because they couldn't afford to sell them anymore.. you were lucccky finding it like THAT.
I dropped 2k on a P-172X FX and I love it, heavy, hot, but it's a mobile lan party
