There are alot of games worse than WoW who cares if someone likes it more? There are alot of well respected members of LoD who have played WoW and still played WoW all the way up until the release of DF.. they may still play it who knows who cares.

Personally as I've said before I prefer a challenge, if the only way to get that challenge is for some pussie to not have to worry about losing his shinies to wear them out when he pvps I'd rather play the game thats going to give me a challenge loot or not.

I don't play online games to collect other peoples e-items.. its nice to get an in game reward items, exp, money what ever for killing someone.. but at the cost of competitive play I'd rather pass.

The arena system in WoW how ever flawed by the shitty rock-paper-scissors class system is by far one of the best PVP aspects of any MMO to date. It has rewards/loss/competitive/status all associated with it.

If their balance system wasn't based on class counters and more on skill counters the arena system would be really amazing.

If the only thing motivating you to kill people in DF is so you can loot their shinny items why the fuck don't you just farm Mobs??

WoW was way more competitive than DF in terms of pvp.. their class balance should have been re-done once the arena system was introduced BUT DF combat is nothing short of shit.
