Dude if you think one speech your 8 year old kids are forced to listen to is going to shape their views forever then you aren't doing your job as a parent.
Do you talk to your kids? If so, good! This won't affect them one little bit. People have been brainwashing their kids since time began, and going to school and hearing one speech isn't going to foil your efforts.
They will probably sleep through the goddamn thing anyway, you think they care about politics at this point?

Thats the beauty of being a parent, you can do what you think is best for your child. Some of these intelligentsia would ban religion under the guise of "brain washing" if they were at the helm. Thank God only a Leninist is in office and not one of these dictators.

sorry i didnt have kids when bush announced the Iraqi war or when the challenger blew. but bush is the perfect example of brainwashing and if his ass was to try and speak to schools i'd have the same feeling.
either way i think its an abuse of power and he shouldn't overstep parents and give you two choices either listen to him or take the kids out of school. I think at the least a permission slip should have been sent out.
