right, and all those guys won't be able to play the game online anymore when infinity goes out of business or decides to stop supporting online servers for the game... meanwhile TF1 still has several full servers 14 years after it originally came out.

Shitty customer support is shitty. No excuses for it. I know who the real fucking pirates are. Do they have proof that piracy hurt the sales of CoD4? They sold less copies on the PC than they did on the xbox, but the xbox is a casual gaming device thats in 30 million homes. The PC isn't normally known for selling large quantities of games. A PC game that sells 1 million copies is considered a huge success. An xbox game that sells 1 million copies can be considered a flop(under certain circumstances).

Microsoft just BANNED 1 million modded xbox's, if that puts things into proportion, and also maybe gives you a little wakeup call in console piracy. Which is just as widespread as PC piracy.

BTW, my friend who mods xbox's for $50 told me none of the machines he has modded got caught in this recent ban wave. So I wonder how many millions more xbox's are just modded the right way.

Your whole argument was that PC should be their main audience, but clearly it's a smaller portion of their audience. Why spend more money to support a smaller group of customers that pirate most of their games?

I don't know if there are exact numbers out there but here is some info from a IW dev:

http://kotaku.com/344848/piracy-makes-call-of-duty-4-devs-sad

Microsoft just banned 600k (from what I've read) for using modded 360s. At least they are policing piracy, which the PC can't. You're crazy if you think console piracy is anywhere near the numbers of PC piracy. You are never going to be able to stop piracy all together but right now consoles are doing their best at it, and developers much rather spend their resources developing for consoles.

Games used to be made on the PC and ported to the console but now it is the other way around. I'm not hating on the PC, because I spent a lot of money on PC, but I'm just giving you side of the story. I work in game development now and I can understand why they are making these choices. None of these guys here hate PC gamers.

Dude, it's blatantly obvious you work in game development. You are as out of touch with the hard core fanbase as any other developer.

I love your link to where the devs say "piracy is enormous!!" and fail to ever post anything concrete. They claim to have the numbers to prove it, yet they have yet to release said numbers in over a year since they made that claim. The article was posted: Jan 15, 2008. Yeah, they've just been to busy to back up their claims...

"Why spend more money to support a smaller group of customers that pirate most of their games? "

Exactly, you missed the real point of everything I mentioned above. FUCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I understand your just a fucking shill and don't understand taking care of your customer. However, in my line of work I have to make sure my client is taken care of 110% and can't be a lazy fuck with my job. Even if a portion of the service comes out of my pocket.

You can't even refer to the PC player base without saying they are all pirates. Yeah, way to classify the 1,000,000 people who bought cod4 on the PC and netted the company an additional $50,000,000.

Keep pretending like these companies and their outdated distribution methods aren't the problem, and blame it on the "pirates". Blame the pirates and not the fact that COD4 was the 4th installment in an overly bloated genre. Keep blaming everyone but the companies themselves for lack of innovating.

I'm out of touch with the hardcore fan base? I don't know what you consider hardcore, but if I'm not a hardcore gamer I'm not sure what is. I would consider myself more hardcore than you because I own every system and I try all the games on the market, instead of boycotting games.

It's not about fucking customer server. You don't have to buy their product if you don't want and then you are not a customer. They calculated how many copies of the PC game they expected to sell and then they allocated the appropriate resources. It's called business!

Lex why don't you sack up and tell Rain to go back to WoW because we all know that makes you hardcore when you say it!

Besides... still not sure how you're a member you must be good at donations.

Then again anyone who go guilded for donating in a game everyone macros... must be a solid addition to the team.

LoD should just become a FPS console gaming guild.. everyones doing it. Especially the 6 year old next door.

I do like FPS on PC better. The mouse does feel more natural because I have been doing it for well over 10 years. I have given up on PC fps though. The games I have looked forward to the most such as the Tom Clancy games, Operation Flashpoint 2, and a couple other FPS titles have been nothing but console ports with no dedicated servers, and a small player base. I took CoD:MW2 on 360 because I knew it would be the largest player base, and would have the most IW sponsored tournaments. I also knew very well that the PC version would be nothing more than a console port. Would I rather use a mouse? Yes. Would I be pissed off at paying 59.99 for a pc game that is an xbox360 port? Very much so. I just saved myself the trouble and bought it on 360.
