You've been saying "its the best full loot game out" since it was the ONLY one out... lol not hard to be the best when you're the only one.

i think this is pretty much the whole argument though really. if someones standard for an MMO is ffa pvp, full loot what's wrong with recommending the trial? the point of the thread is whether or not DF is worth trying. if that's your standard and haven't played any MMOs since UO what's it matter what the pop is?

shit i still hop on dod 1.3 once in a while and there's only 2-5 servers that are full. but they're always full and it's always fun..even when i'm extremely rusty. TPG even still hosts leagues for that "dead game" and while there might not be as many teams as there were 5-8 years ago, there's still enough for it to be fun. the reason i go back to playing it once in a while is there's no other games like it (mechanically).

big difference between a 8 year old FPS game thats "dead" and a 1 year old MMO thats dead.

But since you want to use this analogy.. it would be like playing the fps game with what 5-10 people in it? instead of 20-30? lol. Thats the point really and DF never even reached the full population because of how bad it is. Would you still have fun playing DoD if there were only 5 people in a server?

How long would that fun last? lol

Jesus christ dude, you don't like Darkfall we get it. You take a confrontational stance against everyone you used to game with, stop being such a soggy vag.

well i think even more realistically in that sense it would be like having servers w/ 11 people in it and me joining making it 12..with servers here and there that you could do 6v6 yes i'd still play it. it'd basically be like having pug matches here and there which is more honestly what DF is like from what i gather.

there may not be conflict around every corner of the world, but there's enough reason to be in a good amount of high interest resource spots over the map..whether it's farming or what not, that're highly contested generally any time you go there. so that you don't have a bunch of fags grinding instances or sitting around their guild cities because they don't have to leave isn't always the case..surely there's some bottom feeders who babysit town 99% of the time, but there's still going to be plenty of people in those diff locations none the less. which to me = different FPS maps that you can go fight at, changing up scenery or stocking up on something that you need farming farmers.

don't get me wrong...i haven't played the game in ages and of course there's reason for that. responsibilities don't allow me the dedication i feel is necessary to play any MMO right now; just throwing out an unbiased opinion.

Mortal Online is now it's completion with more coming out with in the next year. It is really sad that it was the only FFA PVP full loot game out for such a long period of time.

These types of games will always have small population's, people don't like loosing there loot or not being able to show it off with out risk. It is also a game centered around PVP the general population wants more fluff(PVE, Roleplay and Chat interface).

I consider EVE to be the most successful game with a similar rule set but not in the genera. They had a massive amount of people purchase there game and had a launch similar to Darkfall's that resulted in a major loss of subscriptions. Overtime they patched the game and kept making improvements it now has 250k+ subscriptions. This is no comparison to WoW but no FFA PVP Full loot game ever will have WoW numbers.

I think Darkfall could easily follow that model and continue to grow.

I doubt it even if I thought DF devs were compotent enough to keep their game alive for 7+ years like eve has been.. eve also benefited from no direct competition. it's still more of a niche game than DF in the sense its flight simulation MMO...

DF has much more direct competition in the type of game it is and if like you say there are more games coming out I have a hard time with any concept of this game actually growing its population.

If a game was as well designed as WoW released with FFA pvp/full loot I'm sure it could be successful. The problem is the companies who want to get these niche markets are all 3rd string or waterboy developer/companies.

I also think you meant.. start to grow.. lol.

you know the pvp is great. it is kind of a pain of a grind but i think it is worth the time the sand box style rocks. Also there are endless possibilities that the devs can do for the dynamics of the game. mind you the game has only been out for a year to the public.

It is in the end what ever the hell I want it to be. When I am through with it, it will blow a hole this wide into the own world's idea of itself. They are throwing bottles at your house; come on, lets go break their arms.
