if you dont want to pay for it, the above links i posted work (verified) multiplayer 100% functionality (deluxe version)

use gamespy arcade to find/join games, if you remember or downloaded borderlands how that worked, pretty much same deal

Games will be even longer in Civ5 without unit stacking. Imagine having to move every unit?

Not stacking units is fine and it doesn't make games longer at all. You should be playing by the MP rules that most players use and you're games should last anywhere from 10 mins to 3 hours.

- Pangaea
- Legendary Start
- Max Turns 100
- Disable Start Bias
- Enable Turn Timer
- New Random Seed
- No Ancient Ruins
- No Barbs

You should join the ladder league at www.civplayers.com and join the steam group/chat. You can find a lot of MP games. If anyone wants to play a game hit me up.

no unit stacking actually fixes the pace of the game..you can actually still unit stack on your cities if you never move them and keep pumping em out. then there's an unstack tile option even.

if you have a problem w/ not being able to stack..i hate to assume but are you turtling? you should be making units for the sole purpose of dying and being replaced. everyone/everything is expendable.

I agree. The new system forces the attack.

Turtling? Negative. Only played a few games in MP, guess I haven't played enough and I guess I am too used to past civs.

Not quite sure how no unit stacking fixes the pace of the game though. I'll have to give it another whirl.

Yeah see I've never played that way either. I've never done Civ league games. When Civ first had Multiplayer, back in Civ2 Gold?? Or Civ3? I played a bunch, but there were no set rules, just of the creator.

Those settings would be nice for PvP though, but I play mostly with casual friends who don't have as much experience with Civ games.

If I had more personal time (not devoted to DF or Madden) i'd probably try this civplayers.com out smile

I've downloaded it and feel the same way. I don't have any direction and I keep clicking next turn, moving some units around and that's about it. I know the objective to win, but I don't really find the game very engaging.
