I started reading the books after the second to last episode. Already finished the first and second book. Now I'm on the third.
If you start reading the series, don't skip the first book. Theres a lot of stuff not even touched upon in the tv show. Lots of history of the realm, info on the war between the others\wight walkers and the children of the forest, and even a battle scene they cut from the season to save money. The story is superb.

Next season will be Clash of Kings.. should be pretty fucking awesome.
As Rain said.. there is a ton of shit still in the books that has been left out to save time/cash/etc.
I'll warn you though.. the books are fucking long & the author spends waaaaay too much time discribing food (he's a fatass irl so I understand).. anyways every book in the series is like 600+ pages.. still worth reading but fucking long ass books

I've read quite a few fantasy series and this is my favorite. Worth reading especially if you liked the TV series.

I liked the series. I was concerned it wouldnt do the books justice and it didnt but it was pretty damned close. Much closer on this series than any other book-to-tv series ive seen.
the intro is badass also

The first few episodes I was debaiting never watching another, but now I can;t wait for the next. So was episode 10 the last one for the season? And when does the new season start?
And why didn't that bitch push Joffrey off the fucking bridge, arrrrr!!
