Just like F2P games they are adding an item marketplace where you can buy\sell l33t items for RL $$. Except, unlike F2P games you will still have to pay for the game. Is every company going to try and cash cow off this new trend? First wow style graphics and now this, so disappointing

Are you sure it isn't player found items only and blizzard takes a cut ? it seems like they are just trying to get rid of third party item selling sites.

Also the PC market has been non existent since 2004. And really hasn't fluctuated too much outside "the big boom" online gaming presence in one individual game, around 2.5-5 million covering all regions, to 9 mil topping off at 11. I don't know the console numbers, but I'm sure they're at the least in between the two. On top of that, curbing Chinese gold farmers (or a contractually secure alternative, anyway).
It just seems like this is the route companies are going with rather than feeling like you need to risk getting banned and losing tons of time investments, in order to compete, you're competing to acquire the items at no cost and sell them for RL $'s. This seems to make sense as a positive whether you're the type of person who would never buy shit from either of the 2 options, or not.

The difference is before it was only the hardcore niche that bought shit off ebay, and it was done illegally so even less people did it because of potential risks.
Now everyone and their mother has the same access and it's legal. Which will FORCE everyone else to purchase shit for RL $$ in order to keep up with their friends who purchased shit. Which is exactly what blizzard wants to happen, since they make a cut.
Lets not forget that this will also make 10000 different Chinese farmers bot this game non stop to sell shit for $$. Which Blizzard wants as well, because every time they catch a Chinese farmer selling shit they can ban the farmer and keep the entire profits for themselves. Since the money will be held in escrow.
This isn't even an MMO. It's a dungeon crawler. How many bad directions can they take it in?

Imagine the CS issues Blizzard has to go through though. People who sell their account, collect the cash, then get a password reset to get it back. Or their account gets keylogged, stripped and sold and they call up CS to get it back. With this, no one will go outside Blizzard's system to buy/sell and Blizzard can keep tabs on all the sales details.
The bot farmers will be there regardless, they just have an easier time of it. The hackers and cheats will be screwed.
Besides, imagine how fun it will be to kill and loot someone wearing $100 worth of gear.

I kinda like this change in internet gaming. It promotes all the grandmas basement living losers to go out and get a job!
To all you virgins, thanks for nothing.
