My living room goes nuts when something exciting is happening. Whether it be the ground or not. Dudes escaping subs or subbing another guy breaking his arm or getting close is pretty fuckin exciting. But for me, the technical aspects of MMA are pretty awesome to watch because I know how hard it is yet how easy it looks to people, especially the casual fan that just wants brawls.
I will say this, some shit on the ground is boring as fuck. But many fights fought standing can go the same way too and you will hear boos referring to shitty slugfests or guys just stalling on the ground. Although mis-informed fans will boo much more on the ground even when dudes are trying to improve position, go for a sub or even attack the other opponent, kinda funny. Used to it by now so it doesn't matter, that is just how fans are in all sports.
