Thats an interesting attempt at a double dip.. if the games successful they could bank on the players to watch the show.. or atleast have it playing in the background while they play the game lol. Trion is an interesting company.. they tried to create an MMO a few years back based on a pyramid scheme type of referal system... and had some massive set backs in the launch.. I'm not sure if it ever panned out.. I would doubt it since I haven't heard anything about it since.
I'm not sure if the new element is going to be enough of a difference from the standard lame mmo formats to give the game any real entertainment value past the "newness" or in this case the "lod hype train" but we can all hope something new and innovative might spur something loose in the constant reminder of why PC gaming and console gaming has become so non-intuitive and repitive over the last 10 years.

The only thing that would be fuckin awesome is if a player made a big enough impact in the game that it was aired on the show. That would be fuckin sweet.

I doubt that very much. Most shows are filmed 2-3 seasons in advance they definetly don't film them weekly so any player driven content would be hard to transfer to the show. On the other hand anything they write for the show that drastically alters some type of story line could just be added like a GM or world event in game that week for example.
I'm really curious if this is just some type of port from the other game they were making which if I remember correctly was Stargate worlds.. a MMO based on that show.. so now they're trying to port that game into a show based on a game.. lol
Anyway I'm not holding my breath for it.. like I said tho any change from the norm is appreciated.

No show is filmed 2-3 seasons in advance, barely any even have that much plot locked down. But you're right, it would be a feat for the developers of the show to integrate player achievements into the storyline.
Since they're going for a pretty broad appeal on this, I can't see the game or the show breaking many barriers. But it's a neat idea and I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out.

Big red flag for me; They're hoping the game appeals to fans of the show, not that the show appeals to gamers.

I'm sure you know that they are not because of your vast knowledge as a network producer or some other relevant job right.. or did you just find something in my comment you didn't agree with and decide to say thats not the law because your the law man?

Yes, I do work in TV production. For the most part I'm a shooter and editor, so I work in both production and post production. Just this past year I worked as a camera assistant for some second unit shots on Supernatural. Two weeks later I was called in to do some sync cuts ON THE FOOTAGE I SHOT. The episode (Weekend at Bobby's) aired three weeks later. So I've got a really damn good idea of what I'm talking about, considering it's my career.
Tell me which show shoots 2 - 3 seasons in advance. I'd love to know which networks will sign a deal with the producers to have them tied down for that length of time. Even the Simpsons, which IS nailed down until 2018 (I might be wrong on that date, but I don't think I am) is only in production for 8 months of the year.
