I'm enjoying the game so far aside from the crashing, but they're doing a hotfix to fix a couple of issues(including the crashing), so hopefully it stabilizes a little after that. It's basically DayZ-Lite with some different/added features.
The inventory management/gun selection/switching items/managing items/looting is considerably better and less buggy than DayZ. You're also not really limited as much to what you can hold. I was running around with 5 guns at one point.
There's a global bank in the game. If you have excess guns/inventory items you can just transfer them to your global inventory and use them on fresh characters. This is cool, but also a little carebear. Every time you loot a new gun, you can transfer it to your global inventory to keep it safe, when your current gun runs out of ammo, you can just transfer a inventory gun back to your primary character. If you die, you lose everything you had on your character(which is lootable by other players), but your global inventory remains. I'd say this aspect makes WarZ a tad less 'hardcore' than DayZ, but it's also really convenient to equip a fresh character with a basic gun and some basic items. To access your global inventory, you have to disconnect from the server though, so it's a bit annoying/inconvenient to be doing it a lot.
There's also a marketplace where you can buy limited types of ammo(not guns), melee weapons, food, water, select medical supplies and cosmetic clothing items. I assume you can use RL money to stock up on that shit. Those who can put a lot RL money into the game will definitely have an advantage, not having to find and loot food/water is huge. My first death was from dehydration... I'm sort of torn on this. Sure.. people can deck their chars out with ammo/med supplies/food/water, but they're still killable and lootable. I killed a dude who bought a knife, a hat and some extra supplies off of the marketplace and took all his shit.. I think if you could buy guns off of the marketplace it would be a deal breaker for me, but currently guns aren't for sale.
It's less "survivalist" too. You don't need to manage broken legs/fevers/constipation/shakes/every god damn physical malady on earth. As far as I can see, there's only hunger, thirst, health and bleeding.
I like the increased cosmetic options too. You can literally have a murder squad full of dudes with clown masks, or hockey masks etc.
Overall, it feels really similar to DayZ.. You're running around in the woods, going from location to location searching for loot, killing or avoiding zombies, and murdering players and stealing their loot. It's fun so far.
