Crazy shit is going to happen once in a while. Nothing will ever stop that from happening. If you take one thing away, another thing will be used as a catalyst to make crazy shit happen.

You can't bank on when/what crazy shit will go down, but what you can bank on is a huge line of people trying to shove their agenda down everyone throats to follow immediately behind it. And tons of sheep eating it up and supporting whatever agenda that is, this time it's gun control.

This is about making it harder for kids/people to get automatic weopons. I like using the seatbelt correlation. Back in the 40-50s car manufacturers didn't have to include seatbelts. Than they became a requirement and the amount of deaths in a car decreased by 90%. Something needs to happen with stronger regulation and the process needs to change. Yah it's not going to stop these things or crime in general, but its a damn good start. Obama is going to do something.

the shooter didn't use an automatic weapon, there has been an automatic weapons ban since the 1930+s.. they are trying to ban semi-automatic assault rifles. getting automatic weapons is pretty damn hard in the states, you have to have a crazy hard to get permit to purchase/sell them. most shootings here in the states don't involve automatic weapons.

They aren't automatic weapons but i get what you're saying, there are plenty that are just as dangerous...the problem isn't the gang bangers who get their guns illegaly or the occasional housewife that shoots an innocent person...those are steady death rates that are unfortunate but aren't going to be fixed. The problem is that EVERYONE has equal rights, and so because a lot of people want guns for protection that means all the sketchy people of the world get them as well. The most dangerous stop isn't rolling up on the banger with a felony want...it's that 5150 marine who just wants to do a dance for you on the side of the road... The amount of mentally unstable people is ridiculous and because everyone feels that they have a right to arm themselves, the mentally unstable have a right as well.

Obama isn't going to change that, no one is, because as sad as it sounds a school shooting like Connecticut doesn't affect the people that need to be affected to set change like that in motion.

And by banning certain guns your just keeping them in the hands of the "bad guys" and keeping them out of the people that could potentially stop a mass killing. Never waste a good tragedy right? Sick fucks that want to shoot up schools are gonna get guns and no policy is gonna prevent that. I think we should make all guns illegal because it works with drugs right?.......LOL.

Trance, I agree something needs to happen and that's coming from a die hard 2nd amendment supporter. But automatic weapons have been banned in this country since 1934 already. Everyone is blaming the most recent terrible trajedy on automatic guns, but the guns used were not automatics. These people are just trying to make political points. Also keep in mind that these large massacre's that have happened over the last few years in Virginia, Colorado and Wisconsin, did not involve automatic weapons either. They may look like automatic weapons, but they work the same as my deer hunting rifle except they have larger magazines. That's a area where perhaps there needs to be discussion. When I go deer hunting, I usually only have 3-5 rounds loaded. I don't have a need for a 30 round clip.

As to your seat belt example, that's great. But statistics prove gun bans do not lower gun crime in the same way as seat belts save lives.

As for Obama doing something, that's another joke. He is just another politician like the rest over the last 50 years that talk tough and refuse to negotiate with the opposite party on anything. The only thing the two majority parties are willing to sit down and openly discuss is the blacklisting of any potential third party candidates.

I honestly Trance do not remember ever in my life hearing about a crime in America with a automatic weapon? Not sure about that guy in the military that flipped out a few years ago. He may have had access to them. I don't remember.
