TBH Silva hasn't been touched in YEARS & he likely wasn't expecting to get touched this fight.. in addition that's his style & he has been fighting like that for the past 3-4 years.
BUT
did Silva want to end it & was trying to get a show going before it went down?

He said he isn't going to retire & he has 10 more fights in him.. likely because he is under contract & because the UFC doesn't make those contracts public who knows
At 38 years old he can still fight for a long time (he hasn't taken that much damage over the years because again.. he never gets touched in his fights.
If he had to do another 10 fights because of his contract & he was still a champ he would only do 2~ fights a year.. which means he would be 43 by the time his contract is up & it sounds like he wants out. He likely wants to just bang out his last 10 fights beating up on scrubbies out of his league but I don't see D. White allowing that. I see White making him fight a top5 or top3 fighter before a rematch & we will see how it goes in a rematch.
As always Silva is a weird cat & hard to read (especially because most of the time he never speaks in English). Time will tell but IMO he wants to retire but because of his contract he may not be able to retire on his terms & will have to slug it out.

silva is getting more and more cocky. This is the worst I have ever seen him. Pride days he would never do that shit he would just own the shit out of you. None of this showboating crap. No way silva loses if he takes that fight seriously. Weidman is a fucking shitty fighter im amazed.
