A 4k movie takes over 100 gigs, blue rays wont even fit them, so we are talking about a major media upgrade before that happens. Otherwise you are just upscaling 1080p. It's more like q4 2015 not 2014.

Google has created their own codec called VP9 that is also pretty good and has a 50% less bitrate than VP8.

High quality monitors always beat TV's to the market. So hardcore gamers get an edge on next-gen technology.
