G-Fist]^ butthurt is strong with this one. Haha Why is that, because you managed to troll a thread with ignorance and I find it humorous it means I'm butthurt? I guess we all have our different definitions of butthurt.

Lol, that was one of the dumbest fucking videos I've ever watched. Psuedo-intellectual bullshit from a guy that clearly doesn't understand the inherent characteristics of a republican form of government -- such as the rule of law or popular sovereignty. It was especially amusing to see the author of that video attack the "illegal" entry into a man's home. To put the rest of that story in context, police received a report of domestic violence from a woman inside the home. Officers arrived and the woman gave the officers consent to enter the home. The man, and accused wife beater, told the police they did not have resistance. The police then attempted to enter, with the woman's consent, and the man assaulted the officers and was arrested. If you watched that video and thought, "hey, that makes sense", do democracy and all Americans a favor and never vote again.

Im kinda embarrassed that video was posted in this discussion by people i know. That exact same video could be edited ever so slightly to be "when is it ok to kill our own military". Would you still be behind it?

I guess we all have our different definitions of butthurt. Lol, teriya just won the thread. Haha. What ignorance? Sure im trolling? In all seriousness, we libertarians are trying to "take over the world, so we can leave you alone." I got nothing agianst the people behind the badge, they are victims too. And really i am getting my whole body cavity opened up on wednesday so just wanted to say, let's agree to disagree. Just remember there is nothing glorious about weapon tactics and training and until you're in a situation there's no way to tell how one will react. Every situation is different, and well trained Leo's should be the last ones to have gung-ho attitudes, your policing your own. Want to kill people? Join the Marines.

Would you still be behind it? God yes. But I'd be more worried about the Department of Homeland Security with their 2700 MRAPs, for some reason I don't think they're going to Afghanistan.

Libertarianism seems to resonate the most with military people in this country. I suppose it's a bit of a leftover 19th century ethos.
The problem with the video is this "when all else fails" concept. A cop wrongfully arresting a guy is, at least on paper, something we thought about already. The reason you don't have the legal right to violently resist cops over your personal perception of injustice is because you have a right to due process after he arrests you, and opinions, particularly legal ones, are like assholes. I'm not meaning to suggest it always works out that way, or even that the public is consciously consenting to the expansion of federal powers to the degree people who view this as a non-issue think. Everyone can point to the law they don't like, or the corrupt cop, or even argue that both of these are systemic problems. But framing individual resistance as some kind of civil uprising against tyranny is jumping the gun on a shitstorm almost nobody really wants if you ask them directly. Moreover, if the "sheep" as he so affectionately calls them, consciously or unconsciously approve, then who the fuck is he to complain?
I disagree with the premise, but I appreciate the sentiment. Our modern government flirts with civil liberties curtailments on occasion that look outright pre-Roman to me. The problem is our government always did that, hell I can think of ten occasions off the top of my head that were way worse than now.

It might be because we've seen firsthand what service members have gone through to protect the piece of paper that outlines the rules for our country, and ensures our freedom, and can't bear the thought that the deaths and amputations of our friends have been in vain... oh well. we'll chalk it up to 19th century ethos. totally. The next time the government tries to round up Japanese Spies or 'Domestic Terrorists' will hopefully be the time when people realize that paper is flammable and the 7th amendment is just ink on the parchment along with the 22nd amendment and Article 2 Section 1 which protect our country from presidents-for-life. I'm sure you'd love 40 years of Bush..

I didn't say a 19th century military ethos was a bad thing, or that I in any way disapprove of Libertarianism. For the record I don't think either are bad things.
But I don't actually need to say anything bad about it when its proponents kneejerk to dying friends, amputations, flaming constitutions, and generalissimo presidents-for-life whenever someone disagrees with them.
