Lol, loved reading all of your posts. I mostly agree with Vermi. I require my children to articulate themselves without "rebellion or defiance." I want them to convince me that there way is better -- they rarely succeed but I encourage it.

They can express themselves for sure! Just with mutual respect and knowing listening is part of communicating. Our kids know our names for the same reason but you wouldn't catch me letting them carry on a conversation not listening and barking out orders to mom.
Maybe not the extension chord but an immediate stop to that shit.

If you take a step back from the trees and look at the forest, it's actually pretty funny. Also, you can allow your kid to express themselves without fear of them being fuck ups. I agree that would be annoying if he was like 6 or 7, but 3, THREE years old, it's actually pretty funny. Do any of you fuckers besides Zeke even have kids? Yes. And I would pop that little bitch in the mouth and say. "Listen to that young man. Let me know when you would like some more debate."

Vermithrax]Maybe that's why I'm not so quick to beat my kid. I was born and raised in the Old South. Memphis, TN. It was still legal to paddle kids with a big ass wooden stick when I was in grade school there. My dad was quick to resort to that to solve all problems as well. Coming from that and having a kid of my own now, I can say from experiencing both sides, there's a better way. Like I said, I definitely spanked my kid a time or two when he got really out of hand. But believe it or not, if you're a reasonably intelligent person, your kids usually are too and you'd be surprised how much you can resolve by simply...I dunno....talking to them? So a debate with your child were you teach him that it's ok to debate in a disrespectful manner to an adult is learning to "express himself"? Vermi your kid is going to be "one of those" when he grows up

If you mean one of those super stars, you're right. The kid probably got the best possible combination of DNA he could from his mom and I. He should be writing me thank you notes every day for that shit. All jokes aside, some of the members here have met my son and I'm sure they will tell you he is very well behaved and respectful. And guess what? I didn't have to beat his ass every time he said something I didn't like to make him that way. Shocker.
