I struggled internally with this concept for a long time. The imbalance of power and wealth in the U.S. seems really unfair and shitty at a casual glance. But then in my mid 20's I read the book Atlas Shrugged and my views changed a little bit. Without the brilliant albeit economically ruthless minds that built this country, I wouldn't be living a life that the 80% of the global population is envious of. Everyone's perception is their own reality, so we make big deals out of dumb shit in this country when a vast majority of the world population struggles to get enough to eat every day. In summary, I'm thankful to the ruthless assholes that made all this possible for me and mine.

In the amount of time it took us self-centered, spoiled, Westerners to type up all these WOT over our seemingly HUGE issues of what type of health care we have, thousands of kids died as a result of being poor. Not trying to jump on a soapbox or anything, just saying it's funny how trivial our problems and arguments are really when you think on a global scale about what the real problems of humanity are.

Cant do good in the world without all the self-centered motivation for financial gain and the technological advancements that are bore out of it. But, once those advancements are made through entrepreneurship and FREE MARKET competition those advancements help all mankind.

If we fall or default on our debt or go under as a nation due to shit like the ACA and other ludicrous policy nobody wins. The corporations just move and the US citizen gets fucked. It just so happens that we are the biggest winners in history, for now.

Here's something to toss on the fire. Kind of off topic, but I piqued my interest when I heard it.

Sweden (I think it's Sweden, could be wrong) is looking at passing a bill that would make all corporations have to adopt a policy of paying their CEOs no more than 12 times their lowest paid employee.

Now I think it's an awesome idea and I hope to hell they do NOT pass it. This would drive Swedish companies out of the country. BUT, it would be something a group like the UN could pass and force all member countries to participate.

Most CEOs big money doesn't come from Salary, go look at those guys that pay themselves only $1. The real money comes from shares.
