Post something that makes your original statement true, "our shooting problem is just like the entire rest of the world." Being #13 out of 200 countries means we are leader in firearm deaths, not like everyone else.

This thread should suffer a firearm death.

Data is useless unless you view it in the proper context.

http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2012/jul/22/gun-homicides-ownership-world-list

"But the US does not have the worst firearm murder rate - that prize belongs to Honduras, El Salvador and Jamaica. In fact, the US is number 28, with a rate of 2.97 per 100,000 people"

Considering we have the highest rate of gun ownership in the entire world, our murder rate by firearm isn't that big of a deal.

If you need a cause that your heart can bleed for Obs, go here:

Hunger and poverty in America is a much bigger deal than gun violence.

I cant argue with you guys if you think being #13 or even #28 out of 200 countries is just "fine". I agree to let this thread die by firearm.

I think that being 28th in the world when we have the highest rate of gun ownership in the entire world shouldn't make anyone freak out. It's easy to arouse emotion in people simply by varying your choice of words.

For example: The US Ranks 28th in the world in gun violence.

That sounds bad, right?

However, what if I said this: 80% of Americans own guns but only .003% of the population is killed by guns.

Well shit...that sounds a lot less serious doesn't it? Both statements are accurate and both were made using the same data, from the article.

Like I said, if you need a cause to rally behind, there are a lot more serious issues in this country than firearm violence.

This would actually be really effective on all fronts. It would raise our firearm death rate towards # 1, as Obs is hoping for. It would also reduce hunger and poverty rates because all the poor starving people would be dead.

Blazzen, the solution guy.

Out of all the countries that have the size and population of the US, how many of those also get the 24/7 media publicity of such events? I know we don't hear jack squat about Europe let alone Asia or Africa even when that stuff DOES happen.
