Roksmokar]Deadly, you just got done referring to police as Jackboots. Do you call your police officer friends Jackboots to their face, or just on the internet?
Maybe you are just unsure of what that word means.
Jackboots != Nazis, even if the Nazis did employ what I would term as jackboots. Just about every country in the world has used force in such a way that I would use the term. That does NOT give them all the connotation that "Nazi" does. Nazi is a far worse term that I would reserve only to describe those truly deserving the title.
If my friends carried out orders that I disagreed with like barging into someone's home and taking their property because a judge said it was OK, then yeah, I'd call them a jackboot. It's entirely a case by case basis, but I believe in complete freedom until you have an absolute water tight case to restrict freedom.
At my job (sys admin) security is about least privilege. You have the minimum amount of privilege to do your job. Outside of my work I believe it's the other way around. You should get the most privilege as long as it does not impact the privilege of those around you. So when I see a potential risk of my privilege being taken away, even though my privilege impacts no one, I take notice.
