The use case in America is as follows:
1) Kid gets mad because he's been teased at school for the last 10 years, has no friends etc. 2) Kid decides to borrow his mothers Hello Kitty AK47 and mow down 30 people at school the next day.
The use case in Australia is as follows:
1) Kid gets mad because he's been teased at school for the last 10 years, has no friends etc. 2) Kid grabs the kitchen knife and goes to school. Yeah he might kill a few, but his ability to kill is greatly reduced.
I dont trust anyone have access to firearms (other than law enforcement / military) because:
1) 70% of the population are idiots 2) People make bad decisions when drunk or under the influence of drugs 3) Kids can get access to these weapons because the parents are stupid and don't secure them properly. 4) People get emotional, and don't think rationally all the time. 5) People are stupid.
Just because you are perfectly reasonable Vermi, don't assume anyone is.
