Rainman]"Is H1Z1 going to be better than Day Z day 1? No it won't."
Umm, then why the fuck would I play it?
DayZ has absolutely no fucking features finished yet, and they are saying this game is less complete?
DayZ just added 1 vehicle, and it doesn't even break/repair or have parts.
DayZ is still using their old rendering engine that they have been trying to update for over a year. Are they saying that H1Z1 is going to be even clunkier than DayZ's old rendering engine?
Why would they make such a stupid fucking statement unless there game is stripped down like DayZ and missing all of its features?
He didn't go into specifics about what's better in DayZ than their game. The only specific thing he said was DayZ has more features than this game. He was later including modding etc. as a feature.
I'm also pretty sure they're clueless about the standalone and what condition it is in and all the DayZ referencing is from the Arma 2 mod. But that's all speculation and no way to know, but then so is assuming everything we hate about DayZ was being considered when he responded to the question without hesitation.
The engine is the same engine as EQ2/EQNext/Planetside 2. It's not a new engine and that's kinda good imo, they've had time to work a lot of inherent problems out. PS2 is free too, if you haven't played it you can try it out. It's basically going to be like that with movement/recoil/bullet travel time tweaks. Jimmy Whisenhunt is their combat systems guy, who was the frontrunner into a lot of major changes made to CS:GO that made the game playable if that helps build any sort of confidence.
Game could be a flop. They definitely advised against playing the game if you're expecting a released game. They've got 3 vehicles in the game. And what I've talked about in this post are just a real general response to the specific points in yours. I know there's a laundry list of problems with DayZ so it's still kind of a silly comment to make. But the backlash for claiming your game is better than the "pioneer" survival game could just be something they don't want to deal with. We won't know til it's out. Every single Early Access game on Steam so far has been a bullshit scam money grab, where shortly after it comes out development is ditched, slowed down, or seemingly non-existent.
I'm not entirely sure how SoE operates but I don't think they want to just sit on this not making any progress for too long. The game itself has only been in development since like Feb or March.
