That's scary as hell. One thing that's fascinating to me about criminal law is how 3rd parties make such an impact on it. Our brains have adapted through evolution to 1) Make snap judgments, with or without complete factual data and 2)Vigorously defend these snap judgments and be skeptical of any evidence to the contrary. Combine that with the faulty nature of human memory and the natural suspicion law abiding people have for people accused of a crime and it's not too hard to see how people can get wrongly convicted. Then add this kinda of shit on top of it...
